I have a 77 monte carlo with a th350 and I am going to be bying a 700R4 from a friend with the stock torque converter for $100. I know its longer then my TH350 and I am going to have to shorten the drive shaft at the same time I will be installing a B&M Mega shifter so that problem is solved but do I have to move my transmission cross member and is it the same mount?

 

different cross member for sure... plus u might have to chane your slip yoke in the front.. its either a long tail or a short tail you will know when u get the trans in the car.... or just take your drive shaft off the car and line it up in the 700 before hand and you should be able to tell.

 

Summit racing has a crossmember for a 700R4 swap part # SUM-770323 for $259.95 going to be a long time tell I can do the swap but this will make my swap so much easier hope this helps some one else.
