Hello, I've been away for awhile sold my 87 mc ss, but have just bought a 88 s.s. (missed my monte), trying to find out about the carburetor
on my 88, is it a standard carb. or a throttle body design,I remember from my 87 that there was something quirky about the carb, back feed
or feed back?. Thanks Ken

 

A TBI unit will have 2 sets of wires , each going to a separate injector. You'll just need to remove the air cleaner cover to see. I thought the 4.3 liter was a TBI and the 305 was a carb but it's been a while.

 

Thanks for quick reply Jeff, have you ever heard anything about backfeed or feedback fuel delivery system?, my mechanic thinks this design was around for awhile but later dropped. Ken

 

Never heard the term but that's 30 year old stuff so I forgot a little. I don't recall anything weird on the fuel system. The carbs were computer controlled but not fuel injection , also referred to as a CCC unit.

great to have a monte again, picking up my 88 ss on Thursday,52,000 miles, one owner, garaged all it's life, any way looking for an
air filter that will provide maximum air flow, I have done a bit of researched and have found that they have a minor concern of not
getting enough air for carb.

 

Sounds like a great car, can't wait to see pictures. For more air flow to the carb you can always flip the air cleaner lid and get the legendary quadrajet moan 😆.

 

Thanks again for another tip, this one is stock red color, my 87 was black with a nicely done ghost flame, I love black cars when they are cleaned up, but they
don't stay that way for very long, swore off of black cars, can't wait to hear the moan.
