Carb or TBI

Carb or TBI
I just recently bought a 350 tbi to put in my 87 SS. The motor came out of a 87 surburban. When i bought my SS it did not have a motor or tranny in it. Is there a way to lfind out if it was tbi or carb by looking up the vin # or any way else?

I would assume there should be a VIN check somewhere to get that info.
If the Montes followed like the Camaro, then the last year for a carb from the factory was 1986 (the Camaro offered carb or TBI in '86 as the IROC-Z package, but in '87 no more carb and no more Z28 for a couple of years, just the IROC package as the top package).
Again, not sure if GM did the same for the Montes.

Comp Nine goes back to 1980 - you might find the info there:
