1987 m.c. s.s.
Hello, need some help with my 87 m.c. s.s. with a 305 engine, apparently it has a feed back or back feed carburator (spelling), my mechanic suggested switching to a different carb. an edelbrock, (hard starts sometimes) which would also involve a different intake manifold, any advice would be welcome. Thanks

There's usually 2 types of carberator design's a spread bore which has 2 big rear butterflies iand 2 small ones on the front and a square bore which has 4 equal size butterflies . The quadrajet carberator that came stock on your car is a spread bore.
