This may sound like a dumb question, but will a supercharger off of a Buick Park Avenue work on my 00 Monte Carlo SS, with the 3.8 L. If so what will i have to do to it to make it work. If not , what will work?

 

You really only need to post the topic in one section- not repeat post in other sections. It just takes some time to get a response.

On to your question- yes it will work, but it is a TON of work to put it on. If your mechanical skills consist of being able to do oil changes and spark plug changes, then I wouldn't even consider doing it. You end up having to strip the engine all the way down to the short block (ie you can see the pistons and block)- and you have to pull the crank balancer (it requires a special puller and the bolt is a nightmare to get off).

Here are most of the parts you'll need:
[*]L67 Heads (Pair)[*]L67 Fuel Rails[*]L67 Fuel Injectors[*]L67 Pullies (2 idlers and one crank)[*]L67 Supercharger and throttle body [*]L67 MAP sensor and MAP sensor bracket
L67 Lower Intake Manifold
L67 Valve Covers (pair)[*]L67 Coil Bracket
All necessary vacuum line, bolts, and accessories for the job

Plus you'll need all these gaskets/bolts:
[*]Head Gaskets (2)[*]Crank Bolt (stock bolt is torque to yield)[*]Supercharger Gasket[*]Throttle Body Gasket[*]Valve Cover Gaskets[*]Fuel Injector O-Rings[*]DHP PCM with proper gear ratio calculated[*]Head Bolts[*]Lower Intake Gaskets[*]Supercharger belt

That list should cover most of what you need. Basically you do almost all the work for a complete engine swap without actually pulling the engine/trans.

Not to mention, lower compression pistons if you want to do all of that work. L67's (supercharged) compression ratio is 8.5:1 and an L36's (naturally aspirated) comp ratio is 9.5:1. Z34 phoenix just added a s/c to his originally naturally aspirated 3800 without replacing heads/gaskets/valve covers. He replied in your other thread.

 

nope never did anything to that GTP... made a ported blower for it... but sold the project. swaping the pistons isnt a good idea.... with tuning the higher compression will give more power. and for the time and cost to swap pistons, its better to swap the entire engine with a l67.

 

That would be shooting yourself in the foot. Assuming you do a few basic bolt ons at the same time to keep the car from knocking- you'll make more power on the higher compression pistons he already has. Many of the high dynoing supercharged cars run an L36 bottom end/pistons. Also, L36 compression ratio is 9.4:1.
