Question s/c from Buick fit my 98 monte z34?

I have a 98 Monte Z34 with a 3800 Series II. I can buy a motor n trans out of a 2001 i believe Buick Regal Gs for 300 bucks. runs good shifts good, has 120k on it. I was wondering if the s/c and heads would fit my motor to make my car a L67. Or would i have to swap the whole motor n trans?? Any info would be great.

Thanks!

You can do a top end swap. Replace your heads on up to the blower & fuel rail. You just need to get a custom tune for your PCM, you could probably get one from zzperformance.com for under 200 bucks.

If you can buy the whole motor and trans, why not just swap the motor and trans and PCM. That way you will have the whole l67 powertrain and it would probably take a similar amount of time either way.

Ok, so 300 is a good price for that? My friend owns the car and its pretty wrecked up but everything under the hood is good.

$300 is a great price. You can do a complete engine swap or you can go with a top swap. A top swap will be more work, but you have the potential of making more hp due to the higher compression of your L36 engine. The problem with doing a top swap is it's VERY involved and you will need a few mods just to run the stop size s/c pulley (3.8").

Do a search on "top swap" and you will see what all is involved and if you believe that you can do the work. If not, just swap the engine, tranny, and PCM.

Even if you don't go through with it- I'd still buy the engine and trans just to resell them. Think of all the people posting on here looking at $1000+ powertrains off ebay wanting to do L67 swaps- you could at least make a little bit of money off it.

Hell I'd buy it for $300 just to learn how to port and polish lol
