Default remote start not working 2006

I just programmed a keyless entry on my 2006 monte carlo. The locks work, the trunk button works, but the remote start doesnt. I turned the remote start on in the information center. When i attempt to start it I can hear a click under the hood like its attempting to turn the motor over but doesnt have enough to do it. Any ideas??

Your car isn't throwing a CEL is it? Because the car will disable that feature if it is.

Another thing from my Chevy mechanic buddy. Double check all leads from the battery. Also, take a volt meter and check the red lead from the battery to ground. Do you have 12 volts?

If that checks out, take a small hammer and tap on the solenoid as someone starts the engine, if it starts the starter solenoid is bad.

Doors all locked?

Mine works intermittently. But then my car has a few minor issues - the chime dings most of the time even when the key is out and the door is open. Whenever the chime does not go off when exiting the car, it will remote start the next time.

the factory keyless entry doesnt work if the hood is open. do you have the switch on the hood latch and if so, is it wired properly and working properly? if not the car wont start.

The remote may have to be programmed specifically for the remote start aspect. It probably has the right features for the lock/unlock but maybe you NEED the tech-II scanner for the remote start?

My MC came with no remote, I bought one on eBay, programmed it through the DIC and it works when the phantom key in ignition signal is not present.

I believe this may have to do with a CEL. Almost 100% sure.

I am just going through this right now.

I am going through it and I have no CEL. Any other ideas?

Also, I asked this two other places and got no answer. Is the remote start module the one in the dashboard, or is it somewhere else? A Google search indicates "somewhere else," but Google is overrated.
