just wanted to add my cars fans are brand new and they dont come on till right about 50%...dont know if that will help you but i also just did upper and lower intake gasket and a ton of more maintainence

My 3.1 almost always stayed right about a quarter of the way up the gauge.

Default Coolant temperature sensor

coolant temperature sensor is located right beside the thermostat housing
