Radiator fans
Hey guys and girls. Its been quite some time I know. Life has gotten busy. I come to
you with a question. "Can I remove the radiator fans without having to remove
anything else major?" I have taken them out before but the engine was already out.
Now of course you want to know why.. Well they have quit working and right now I
just dont have the extra money to buy a new pair and I dont want to buy them from a
junkyard. It just seems like something I shouldnt buy from a junkyard.
Thanks..

It's a PITA but it can be done. Hardest part for me was clearing my headers, but if you have stockers it shouldn't be hard at all. I'd buy a set from a junkyard. They don't go bad often. I got mine for like $100 bucks from rock auto with the discount. You should be aware that the fans are riveted in the shroud and can not be replaced individually nor can they be bought separate from the shroud. Well I guess you could but it would be a lot of extra work and fabbing.

I just had mine out to get my radiator out to change my AC condenser.... I honestly thought they were going to be a pain, but turned out to be easy. The shop book says you need to remove the battery and air box. I did neither (fyi - I have a Wizaird CAI instead of a stock air box). Just removed the upper radiator/dog bone motor mount combos. In the end, I did have to take the Wizaird out to get the radiator out (which in turn made putting the fans back in super easy, if I had it to do again, the Wizaird would have came out immediately).
Also, I completely agree with Pacer. Fans on these cars don't go bad (honestly, in my time wrenching on cars, I think I've hard of a fan failure once). I would not hesitate to use a working salvage set of fans. Just my opinion.

Hi all, sorry I know this thread is a couple weeks old but I am currently trying to take my radiator fans out . However in order to get to them I need to remove the torque strut brackets ( I think that's what they are called) but this causes the engine to tilt backwards, so I was wondering if anyone knows whether its safe to leave the engine tilted back or do I need to support it somehow?

You just need to take the air box out, one diagonal brace (the one above the air box) and the upper dog bones/radiator mounts. As for moving the engine, you can just push it by hand.
