Opinion Needed: Possible transmission issues
Hi y’all I need some advice here as I’m pretty divided and am unsure if I’m having minor or major transmission issues well I did a fluid change and filter change that’s all good and it’s at level but the issue with the transmission is when I get going from first to second the rpms climb a little (to around 3000) before it shifts but it doesn’t jerk you and it isn’t harsh but it’s noticeable and I was wondering if it’s the pressure control solenoid or if I got major internal issues car has 255,000 miles on motor and transmission it does go through all gears and I don’t think it’s slipping but just takes it a second let me know what you all think?
and the fluid that came out originally was brown not burnt black

Any stored trans codes? I'd expect to see a P1811 with delayed shifts. One possibility could be the pressure control solenoid is stuck, but if that trans hasn't been rebuilt in awhile, it's likely way past due for a total refresh (or a much lower mileage junkyard trans). Youd hate to go through the effort to replace 1 part only to have the whole thing come apart shortly thereafter anyways.

Is it only delayed on the 1-2? That could help narrow things down to only what's involved with that shift, but not the others.
Does seem odd to have zero codes for it though. Almost makes me wonder if it's getting some false information from a sensor that's making it think its doing the right thing.
TBH though, even if you narrowed it down to a specific solenoid, check ball, clutch pack, etc - it's not going to make sense to open the trans up to just replace the broken part and leave all of the other worn out stuff.
