Info: 4t65e question
Has anyone replaced their own TCC, Shift solenoid and Pressure switch?
I have seen a couple of videos on the subject and think I can do it but I'm not really sure I want to do it myself. I've seen what has to come off in order to get the side cover off the trans. It looks to me to be about a days work. There is a Local Trans shop I trust but I don't think I can afford to have them do it. And I am not a Trans guy So I have an inherent fear of Fluxing it up. Then I'm stuck.
I had a trans swapped in my old BMW. That cost me $650. Now any time I hear of trans work done on a car it cost about $1000 or more. So I'm at a stand still. Do I take a chance and do it myself or do I take a chance that it's not going to cost me $1000 to have a Pro do it for me?
What do you guys think?

Even if I had the same knowledge ofllas u with trans I wiuld still have the shop do it. It might save money to do it yourself but there is no worry about nessing something up. If the shop mess something up they gotta fix it. That's just how I see it. My personal rule is when in doubt just put the tools down haha
Owen, yea, I'm of two minds. Most of the things I know about cars is from doing things I'd never done before a worrying if I got it right. My thing is the time factor. I'll spend a good deal of time working on my car. But 3, 4 hours taking things off So I can get to part I Have to take off to get to the part I wanna replace, that I'm not into. Plus, it's a Transmissions. I know how to replace one but working on one has never been my forte. So I think letting the Pro handle it would be best!
