Those symptoms are indicative of a bad wheel bearing. The hub assembly will need to be replaced.

Back to the OBD II problem...

Are you getting power to pin 16 of the plug? It is the pin in the lower right corner of the plug as you're looking at it. Backprobe that pin with a test light or meter and make sure it is hot.

i never used a test light on it.. but will when i get the car back.... and i thought the wheel bearing.. but it does it every once in a while... and i figured it would do it all the time if it was the bearing

check the brake fluid also when your break fluid is low it will through a abs light

The ABS and traction light both coming on are classic signs of a bad wheel bearing on these vehicles. That's where I would focus my attention.
