I busted my windshield wipers. Dont work. Need help!
Hey guys,
This morning, after brushing snow and a coat of ice off the windshield, i turned on the wipers for a second toclean the rest off. Immediately I herd a snap noise and the wipers kinda went crazy. The passanger side wiper arm seems to be functioning fine, but the drivers side only moves a 1/2 the normal movement, and the one overlaps and hits the other and its a real mess!
It must have to do with the wiper arms being frozen by their pivot point or something, because the glass was clear!
Does anyone know whats this is? Is the linkage broke or something?
Does anyone know of a quick fix, or have had to deal with this issue?
Is it something that requires a professional repair? How much $$$$??
thnx. [sm=headbang.gif]

I have an 03 by the way. Upon further inspection, the part that attaches to the base of the wiper arm contines to move. So i guess the bold needs to be fixed.

There should be a bolt that connects the wiper arm to the link from the motor.
You can pop the cover off (it will be right where the arm pivots), and loosen that bolt, then adjust the wiper back to the position it should be in and tighten the bolt back down.
Give that a try, it literally requires 5 minutes, a screwdriver, and a 14mm (i think) socket.
Chances are that if only one wiper is acting up in the way that you described, then it is just that bolt.
A few years ago, I was driving through a crazy ice storm and my driver side wiper jammed up and moved a bit off it's axis so that it wasn't moving through it's full rotation. This was also causing the passenger side wiper to hit it.
The ice had just jammed up the arm, and caused it to slip against that bolt.
I was damn glad I didn't burn up the motor or break the linkages.

Glad it worked.
I'm super **** about making sure I clean off every bit of snow or ice possible that is anywhere near the wiper arm now.
If ice builds up while driving, it's a good idea to pull over and clean it off.
