Default Nitrous on a supercharged '04 Intimidator?

I have seen kits to add nitrous injection behind the throttle body, and was wondering if nayone has done this with the supercharger, and problems/issues encountered? Benifits, disadvantages?

do you have any mods on your engine? cause if no... i would first recomend changing the pulley for the SC first before you go NO2. now, if you have modd'd your engine and have a significant amount of KR you want to get rid or, you can do something like a CO2 system to supercool the intake charge... and SC air. and help to remove your KR issues. but as neat as NO2 seems, there is no real need for it. with just normal off the shelf mods and work you car can be in the 12 sec 1/4 mile range. and if you follow the top of the crowds, you can drop a turbo and use your SC for #'s in sub 10 sec range! there are a few out there now that are in the mid 9 sec quater mile range without nitrus!

just figure to do nos right, you need some good dyno tuning/ data loging system, wide band O2 and a lot of tuning time. for all the required work and money, you can swap to a smaller pulley and upgrade your injectors and if you push farther drop in an intercooler and you'll be good! and you wont have to top off the bottle.

So far, only the intake and coil packs have been replaced.

A 3.4 pulley, colder plugs, 180 thermostat, and a u-bend delete pipe are in the plans soon, but my stereo is FINALLY getting installed next week. Budget buster! Also, I am about ready to buy the 75,000 mi extended warrenty, and I need to be careful about aditional mods. An intercooler can only help longevity, right?

I was putting out a thread to just find out info about this subject, as I have seen the spacer plates for nos.

What about this turbo + SC combo?

And the Co2 cooler?

the intercooler isnt about longevity... its about cooling the intake air so you can run higher boost without destroying the engine. the higher the boost the more heat generated... the more heat entering the engine the better the chance of it detonating... and causeing Knock which can destroy the engine and at the very least will trigger KR and kill your performance.

there is no real reason to do a turbo and SC unless your pretty much maxed on the SC... so by then you will need the intercooler anyway. a CO2 cooler is great if your running a turbo... but not as effective on a SC engine.

The intercooler is for people that try to put smaller pulley's that there mods can handle. It's alright to have as a backup however it's best to have it as just that, a backup. As to the question about NO2 there is a good forum post on clubgp.com forum in the drivetrain section (I was asking the same thing). Also I would suggest bypassing the U-bend delete and going for a downpipe(or headers if you have the money). Pacesetter's are not too bad from what I have heard so far. Autolite 104's have worked great for me so far keeping temperature down and a good fender well intake set up did well for me. If you have any questions on any of the set up let me know. Newbie to the forum and kinda new to my monte carlo, however my older brother has a 2000 GTP we just did a full motor swap on.

This may need clarification. The U-Bend is one of the first mods you want to do. Now Wicked could have meant to get the whole downpipe, hiflow cat or cat removal and the U-bend delete as one pipe. You simply do not want just enlarge the downpipe and leave the U-bend.

I am also highly against the bottle as well. You should only consider it if you have a fully built motor or upgraded transmission for the big bottles. If you are only dropping in a 50 shot you should be fine without major upgrades to the engine; its not like you need new pistons or anything. The money would probably be better spent on a set of 1.9 rockers though if that is your only mod.

04 Intimidator is right on with what he is saying. I ran a 98" GTP with a bottle and loved it but not before major mods and way to much money. Don't get wrong, im currently working on an 01' SS and I just put a bottle on it! Just a little extra for fun. You just have to be care full depending on what you are looking for. Over all better power and performance or just to play around every now and then...

still there is another factor. how long you want to keep the motor and trany. you can go a head and use NOS. but if you dont have the engine with supporting mods for that power output you will not have it long.nitrous applys power in a very fast and harsh burst for tranys and is a bad idea in my opinon. your better off taking the 400-500 dollars and spending it in perf mods.

PCM-$100
smaller pulley-$50
Ported exhaust and down pipe-200-400
rockers-250
from these your looking at about a 50-75 HP increase... no bottle fills...no destroying of the motor because they support each other!

I can't do anything major now, anyways. I bought the extended warranty for an extra 75,000mi. That will take it to 97,500mi zero deductible bumper to bumper. I will probably do the u-bend delete and the f-body brakesearly this spring. s/c pulley will have to wait 2 years until this warranty is done. I am driving about 38,000mi/yr in this. Am at almost 36,000mi now. Things will happen then. I will probably take it up to ZZP performance in G.R. and let them work on it. As long as it's my daily driver, I'm pretty content with what I have put together so far. An intercooler is definately in the plans. I had to get the warranty, my last 3 w-body's all went thru tranny's. All were '01's. This one has the HD tranny, but still the same breakable gears.
