Default SS supercharged guage cluster into non supercharged car?

hey guys.

I have come to the conclusion that i will be doing a top swap to my LT sometime. not sure when, but i am gathering up a list of stuff that i'll need so i can keep my eye out for good deals and possible used parts.

I am wondering if the supercharged monte carlo gauge cluster can be used in a non supercharged monte carlo, but can be hooked up when the top swap has been completed?

i'm not big on aftermarket gauges or gauge pods, so this is why i wonder lol.

im not 100% but i think it can be done but you prob going to have to do some rewire. you going to need to run line for boost and oil pressure. on the supercharged there are 16 pins inside the connector plug i dont know how many on the lt. i thought the lt is a 3.9 or is that i got mix up with the 06-07 LT? if you are planning to do a swap i have parts off my 04 you might be interest. ss supercharged guage cluster with 27k-30k??? miles. and pcm it need to get reflash to stock. zzp F**k up. they didn't tune it right

atm i'm just lookin for parts for the engine. mostly gathering up numbers. pry won't be ready to buy anything til spring time.

but my gauge cluster is just like earlier year monte carlo SS's with volts, oil press, fuel, and temp. and i have the 3.8. GM started the LT monte's in 05. they were between the LS and SS. 2005 was the only year SS montes were supercharged standard. couldn't buy a NA SS in 05

You can swap it, but I would rather see you just run an aeroforce. You will need one anyway to keep an eye on your KR.

You'll also need the new cluster programmed with your odometer and sign off on some paperwork stating it was swapped if you ever want to sell the car legally.

yeah you would be better off with the aeroforce guage. i had guage pod pillars with both aerofoce and colbalt guage. the aerofoce is very accurate it read the exact psi as the colbalt guage plus you have 23 other sensors that you can check in your car. since you not a fan of the guage pillar you have lot of places you can mount the guage. saw someone here mount their on the dash bezal by the vent.

hmm...guess i'll have to do some lookin around. i saw an aeroforce gauge somewhere where it read like all your parameters and monitor sensors and stuff like that. it could also check codes and whatnot. all in 1 gauge. is there something like that?

also i work at a dealership so i'm sure i wouldn't have an issue getting a cluster changed.

The SS Supercharged cluster will only display boost if you are running an L67 PCM. If you top swap and tune your L36 PCM, the gauge won't work

your sure your tranny and engine are beefy enough to handle the swap? ive thought about it my self but was convinced otherwise due to the fact that for one, i dont have an engine size compatable with the SC, let alone a strong enough tranny, some even speculated the axles might not be strong enough either.

The only substantial difference between the normal tranny and the HD (SC) tranny is the diff (and you can swap it easily). There are some other small tranny differences (TC size, Sprocket ratio, but nothing affecting the strength of the trans). The engine is the same aside from the slight difference in compression ratio (which can be accounted for with some small mods or a larger pulley). The axles on the SC & NA Montes are exactly that same (aside from the SC passenger axle being shorter to accommodate the larger HD diff)

That being said, if you have high mileage on the motor, you would be better off swapping in a low mileage L26 from a salvage yard. Either way, I would recommend rebuilding the tranny to fix some of the design issues present from the factory
