Opinion Needed: New to this. What can I expect from a dyno tune.
Well, at least you didn't put a bunch of money into it - and there's not been a better time to unload a used car. So it should work out ok in the end.
-New car inventory is still very light from supply chain issues. That generally translates into fewer options on the lot and far fewer incentives / haggle ability. This will still take a good bit of time to resolve.
-That has pushed many new car buyers into the used car market, if nothing else for price alone as they can no longer afford new. That's taking a chunk of used inventory out and has also driven prices up substantially. Not even 4 or 5 years ago, many of these W body cars were down to almost scrap value on the used market - especially cars over 150k. Today it seems like most anything that runs and drives can get you at least a few thousand.
-Interest rates are still at all time lows which is keeping buyers in the game.
Have you taken it to a place like Carvana? I've had a couple friends make money selling cars there that they'd bought used / private party pre COVID craziness.
Its on Craigslist and Offer Up. I forgot about Carvana. Wonder if there it costs to post. The thing is I think is nobody knows of these cars so people are looking up camaros and cars everyone knows about. Thats my theory partly why it seems nobody is seeing my ads.
-The market for larger non sports car coupes in general was already very soft in the mid 2000s when these were discontinued. That trend has continued to get worse year after year (outside of the much more expensive grand tourer market). Many normal car companies are pivoting away from any kind of car offerings at all these days in favor of a range of SUVs.
-The Monte Carlo name struggled in general post 95. Plenty of people from the older generations refused it because GM went FWD with it. FWD cars got a huge boost with younger generations from the Fast and Furious era, but the Monte was too big (and too American) to catch much interest from the sport compact market. A great example are some of these near 0 mile factory NASCAR tributes during the 6th gens that today can't even bring in close to their original sticker price (much less considering 2 decades of inflation).
-After 4 or 5 years, the LS4 cars started getting a really bad stigma for trans issues (and in some cases repeat trans issues if it wasn't upgraded during the original rebuild). The older the cars got and the more the prices fell, the worse things got. Not a whole lot of people are willing to risk buying a $5k car knowing they could have a $5k repair bill that could pop up at any time (especially people that can't do any labor and would just drop the whole thing off at a shop). This part is the ultimate gut punch to any kind of enthusiast for the sportiest trim level.
Oof - thats the worst I think I've seen from them.

Seems like you are mainly agreeing with me for the most part! ha maybe I read it wrong but you said the montes and ls4s were not getting much love after people realized their issues. I can't speak on that because this is my 1st but i know of the trans problems. My main points were that kids are moving back in with their parents and the gas prices. I'm on a 91 tune as well.... and $1900 uh yeah whats up with that
