Default New Member - Need some advise on transmission.

I have a 2004 Monte Carlo 3400 with 134,000 miles. I have never done any kind of transmission service to it. Was wondering if I should go with a flush or a pan drop and fluid and filter change. I have been reading up on the internet about it and have mixed reviews. Some say flush and some say don't on a Monte Carlo. I would really appreciate some input on this matter.

Do not do a flush, drop the pan and change the filter. These puny FWD trannies don't like flushes.

Welcome to the forum!

Drop the pan and change the filter. This will change about half the fluid and give you a new filter. You should do a pan drop about every 50K at the most.

Yeah I was leaning toward just a pan drop and filter change and then I called the dealer just to see what they recommended and of course they said flush to get all the old fluid out. That just left me more confused on what i really should do so i decided to come on here and ask some fellow Monte Carlo owners their opinion.

I just did a filter change and cleaned the pan and magnet. It was about 7 quarts to refil.

Welcome and enjoy!
