If you rev your monte and your engine shakes in the engine bay.. is it time for new motor mounts?

If you are driving and the engine clunks, you need motor mounts. Engines move naturally, it's just the AMOUNT it moves that is the problem.

that depends on how bad it's shaking, but the mounts are rubber to allow it to shake and the rubber will tame the vibration in the cabin, this can also lose power to the wheels in a high horsepower vehicle.

This is why people switch the poly or solid motor mounts, less engine vibration that is dulled down by mounts = more power to the wheels, with this you will get more vibration in the cabin though

It's time to buy engine mount and replace it with a new one when you get excessive vibration at idle and when it tries to jump through the hood. When this happened to me, I was happy to do it by myself.

Where are the engine mounts and tranny mount located? Mine is starting to clunk and I would like to know which are gone before they all go.

Pics would be nice but not necessary.

Thanks!

They are on the bottom side of the engine, on the outsides, just inside the tires, if you put it on a lift or jack you can see them but they're easier to get to with the tires off.
