When I've done this a couple of times on the Grand Am, I had the car on a pair of jack stands. My experience with the seal may have been a result of what caused the axle to need replaced (the control arm on the car busted, over extended the entire mess, ripping the axle apart).

As for the method with the screw driver, I believe another member here also used that method successfully.

I have faith that one way or another, you'll get this

It's done. I got a Crow bar from Harbor Freight. (And a Deep Metric Impact Socket set. 21- 31mm) Once I got the crowbar in the right spot the cup just popped right out. Then putting the new one in and putting everything back together was a breeze.
Unfortunately, I activated the Security Lockout by opening the trunk without unlocking the door first. So now I'm in Relearn mode again. If it ain't one thing it's another.
But now I am kind of impatient. I've never driven YelloJAC without a vibration. I'm hoping that was the cause and am looking forward to Smooth Sailing. If it worked I am going to fall in Love with my Monte all over again. If not, Love will have to wait until Spring!
Thanks to everyone for the help. I wanted to Kick the car last night. I guess taking a Crowbar to it was a Better Idea!

hmmm I have a horrible wobble around like 5-10 mph and it just sounds like my tires are unbalanced all the time... wonders if my axles are trashed?

Unfortunately the only real way to tell is to pull the axle. But a wobble at 5-10 MPH sound a little odd. So it could be. Even having done mine a couldn't tell you a sure sign that it's the axle!
