My monte is dead :(
I almost forgot to mention, my CEL came on today!
scanned it and it showed two p0420 codes..... could my rear o2 be going bad? im probably going to replaced it anyways since it's already gone through a clogged cat and now its on its 3rd cat
i know it cant be the new cat already!!
i dont think i've put 1000 miles on it
or could it just be the pcm not getting along with the zzp DP?
I erased the code and hopefully doesnt come back lol
on another note, i'll eventually get an overkill tune anyways

High-flow cat throws the code because the PCM "thinks" the cat is bad. The cat isn't bad, it just flows differently than the stock one.
You gotta get that code tuned out of your PCM.
I was just making a joke with the tensioner... I don't know if they are actually different

I wanna get an Overkill tune... do i just order through their site with the option for a monte? or should i email them and say i have the series 3 etc. etc....?
i'll x2 that, your not really running your typical monte setup there

FYI - If you have to get a tensioner bracket, be careful, to my knowledge the S2 had 2 different designs (and I think the S3 shares the last of those designs). If you have to get one and go "yarding" for it, I believe the tell tale signs are that the bracket you seek uses 2 plastic elbows and the alternator has 2 bolts that sit vertically through it.
And I agree about the 420 code, sounds like it's the silly high flow cat issue. If you won't be doing a tune for a while, look into the anti-fouler trick as a cheapo fix.

guess im going to have to get a new tensioner... i can deal with the noise for a bit though since i have other expenses that need taken care of first
and im going to get one for a series 3 when the time comes
anti-fouler trick?

Basically, there are these things called "Anti-Foulers" or "Non-Foulers" on the Dorman rack at the part stores. They are made to space a spark plug out of a cylinder to avoid fouling out when the engine is having a condition fouling a plug.
BUT, the point here.... They share the same threads as your O2. When I went with a high flow cat, I considered this if I got that code (as I originally did not plan for PCM tuning). I read a LOT of people that did this for that exact code (domestics, imports, any car). Most people required 2 anti-foulers stacked together.
You take one anti-fouler and bore it out with a drill so the probe for the O2 sensor fits in it. DO NOT BORE THE 2ND ONE. Then attach the next anti-fouler to the end of the first one. Put it all on your exhaust, done. You have NOW moved the O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream. It is the "poor man's" way around that code. I know one guy personally that did it on a VW that just a non-OEM "stock spec" aftermarket cat caused that error.
