Here's what i did with my valve covers, i dont think i've seen any like this... painted and polished so thats what i went with




seals installed



$15 compressor from HB, made install of springs SUPER easy!!



CLEAN LIM, its sitting there right now haha



still have alot of work to do! but it should look something like this when its done, im so excited! haha



still have to polish them, doubt it'll turn out nice cus of all the deeper scratches the blade left when i scraped the paint off but it'll look alright lol doing another coat of red and some clear tomorrow

I'm trying man, I'm trying!! I would see if a local shop can get you the pump (it would be faster probably if they can). I'm hoping it all works out for you!!

I thought the same, counter sink the set screw a little. My only concern with not much room for threads, I did not wanna run the risk of the set screw falling into the LIM. I just saw the pics, hard to say without being the one there doing the work. As long as it's held in with 1-2 threads, I think you will be fine. The JB Weld should do the rest.

When I first saw completely PAINTED aluminum valve covers I thought , you coulda painted the plastic ones if you were going to do that. But I then say you are exposing some of the natural aluminum. Much better. I almost feel you need white or black on those valve covers to go with the color theme you have been doing on your Monte. But I think when you paint the UIM, it will pull it ALL together!!

Good stuff so far man!!

BTW - I've heard of some people using "Assembly Lube" with putting things like rockers together. I have never used any of that, but just something to think about. I changed my rockers for ER Rockers and just used oil on everything.

 

No other parts store has the WP going to have to order from Rockauto
I did go ahead and get my trans Fluid, went with valvoline dexron VI Full synthetic. They only had 7 quarts at autozone so I'll just get another one tomorrow lol I also had $40 on my Autozone rewards card from all the parts I've been buying. I used them and only paid $19 out of my pocket for 7 quarts of trans oil and carb cleaner I know you still hate them Jason lol

 

i'll probably just order from Rockauto like I said I doubt I'll be done anytime soon and I don't want to rush anything lol

And the LIM set bolts have plenty of threads holding them on I don't think they'd fall through with the JB weld on them anyways

And with the valve covers I didn't Want to polish the entire thing, I wanted some red in my engine bay, I think it goes really well with the aluminum color going on

The springs were still soaked in oil somewhat so they weren't completely dry, when I install rockers and such I will use just oil on them

 

Ehh they look alright lol Time for work tomorrow I'll mask off the exposed aluminum, paint and clear coat em

Those valve covers look pretty good, Frank! If you plan on doing any more painted/polished combo here's a tip for you: Apply a thin coat of grease to the areas you want to keep the polished finish on, then paint the part. After the paint has dried take a rag and wipe the grease off. I've used this method on the top edges on a few sets of finned valve covers and to keep the 'Corvette' lettering silver on some SBC valve covers and it worked perfect every time. Just make sure you don't get grease on an area you want painted.

Thanks man, I actually did think of that but then I'm like nahh I didn't think it'd work well but then again I've never tried it haha
The paint came off pretty easy though
