Default LS to SS swap.

I am wondering, what all must be done in order for me to swap my 3400 to a 3800 motor? I know the L67 requires a lot but does the standard ss motor require much?

It requires basically the same stuff.

Motor, Wiring harness, PCM

Is it as hard? or would it just be best to do an L67 swap? And if I just wanted a new 3400 motor, is the motor all I would need? Or would I need the PCM as well?

If you are doing a 3800 swap, your challenges using an L36 or L67 are about the same.

And yes, you will need the donor PCM or your PCM re-flashed/programmed. The program in the PCM for a 3400 is not compatible with a 3800.

I think he was asking if he were to put a new 3400 in to replace his old 3400 would he need to change pcms. the answer is no.

if you are changing engines, the work is the same. PCM, Engine Harness, Trans, Axles, Throttle cable, lower engine mounts, High psi Power Steering lines, heater core lines, all need to change.

Radiator, AC lines (possibly will work mine did), trans lines, shift cable, trans mount, and coolant tank all worked when i did my swap.

Yes Phoenix, I was wondering about the 3400 PCM. But thanks guys. Right now with my car, it's one thing after another. I just got home from work and there is a knock in my motor. And it's different from the typical 3400 tick.
