Default Hesitation issue

Greetings,

I hope to tap the minds of the enthusiasts here.

I have a small hesitation issue in my 2001 Monte Carlo SS (3.8L).

If I am traveling along and need to gun it, I hammer down on the gas and the transmission drops down to first gear and the RPM starts climbing quickly and I accelerate as expected; however, when I reach about 5,000 RPM, the car no longer accelerates.

I put my transmission into neutral and reved up the engine and it easily and quickly hit the governed red line with no problem.

All other travels are nice and easy but I accelerate a lot and would love to get this one solved. If you have any questions or need clarification, ask away!

Thanks in advance,
Shandley

Knowing the history of the '00-'01 W-bodies and a cat issue that GM extended warranty on, my first guess is if you are still on the factory cat, have it looked at.

Sweet! Say, is it still covered? If I get my mechanic to look at it and change it, can I get reimbursed for it? I don't know much about it and I'd rather not take it to the dealership unless I have to.

I believe the extended warranty is up (I think it was for up to 120,000 miles or until 2010). Contact your local GM dealer, they can look it up.
If you search this forum I know the bulletin number has been posted more then once (I have to head out to work, other wise, I could probably find it).
