Okay so far the help here has been GREAT

Now, a few more questions. It looks like I will just go with a 3800 series engine. I actually have a 3800 engine from an 02 impala. Would this engine work? Is the firing order the same for the 3.4 and the 3.8? If so I could re-use the computer that is in it currently correct? Is it as simple as taking the 3800 I have now and building it .030 over with forged internals and putting a supercharger from the grand prix on it with a smaller pulley and be done? If so this will be much easier and cheaper than I thought!

Yes, it will work. However, since it is NA, you'd obviously still have to do the supercharged "top swap". Its totally bolt on, but they go for pretty cheap (you have to buy the heads on up off a supercharged 3800- as well as other items)- under $1000 with all fluids and gaskets and such. Your other option here is to buy a CSC kit (couple used on clubgp lately- they aren't made new anymore)- or a turbo kit.

Is the firing order the same for the 3.4 and the 3.8?
AFAIK- no, it isn't.

If so I could re-use the computer that is in it currently correct?
Obviously you can't reuse the program that is in the computer (assuming its a 3400)- you're going to have a totally different set of injectors- different sensors, etc. The 3400 and 3800 are two totally different engines. Best bet is to get the wiring harness and pcm from a 3800 monte of similar year. That way it will plug into the engine and the car with no issues- and you won't have to worry about any custom wiring.

Is it as simple as taking the 3800 I have now and building it .030 over with forged internals and putting a supercharger from the grand prix on it with a smaller pulley and be done?
You're doing it wrong....lol. Forget boring it .030 over- the walls are thin enough as they are, and you won't gain any power by doing so. These engines are tiny, the heads flow like garbage, etc- the only way to make big power is cram in as much airflow as you can without getting knock.

Also, skip the forged pistons- the stock bottom end is perfectly fine.

Keep in mind, with the budget you're looking at- depending on the ultimate goal- a fully built trans can easily eat up half of your budget- so you'd want to keep the engine swap costs down (assuming its a 3400 in there now) so you have more money for mods.
