HELP: 3.8 Valve Covers

Default HELP: 3.8 Valve Covers

Hey guys im having troubles gettin my valve cover (i only tried one so far) off. The left wishbone mount is in the way.

Can anybody walk me threw it?

If it's like an L67, you need to remove the coil bracket for the front valve cover, and you may need to remove the alternator & bracket for the rear.

No problem. Granted I've never worked on an L36, but I assume it's mainly the same as an L67. Just those brackets, and then you should be able to just remove the valve cover bolts, then you should be good to go.

It'd probably be easier to get to the back one if you rolled the engine forward.

i havent gotten to the back yet, i really want to get the front one done first because thats what people see the most.

If you have to remove the plastic coolant elbows on the alternator bracket- buy new ones first! They're prone to cracking upon removal.

They're cheap, like $2 or so at autozone, I just don't know if the alternator bracket and such is any different on your car. When I did rockers on my 99 gtp, I had to remove that bracket, and I of course broke one of the coolant elbows.

I picked mine up at Pep Boys in the self help section, got a spare set in my trunk too haha
