6th Gen ('00-'05): Eratic Stutter at all engine speeds
I wasn't addressing the stutter - you found a crack in the coil which would cause that.
I was addressing the problem causing the engine to die once up to operating temp. The most common cause would be the ICM/ECM but you said it was good. So, the next thing in line to check would be the temp sensor. Just because you don't have an overheating problem doesn't mean it isn't bad. If it is malfunctioning (or there is a problem with the wiring) the voltage signal from the sensor can be skewed making the PCM think the engine is hot - and shut it down.
I haven't done that yet. The new one was installed at Pep Boys. Cause the old one would not let the car run once the engine temp reached 160°. At that temp the engine would shut off and I could not start it again till the temp dropped to about 140°. But you are right. The new MAS could be bad too.

Replacing the MAS fixed the problem, as soon as the new MAS was installed the car would not longer shut off. I don't claim to understand it. But I've found that a bad MAS in these cars are capable of causing problems and codes that would not make you think the MAS is bad. You have to do a Live Scan read to figure it out!

How many million times have I said that on this forum. I totally agree, but when you state the car dies at a certain temperature a MAF does not come to mind because that is not a symptom of a bad MAF. Stalling - yes, but not killing the engine at a particular temperature. That is usually a defective ICM/ECM or a bad temperature sensor - the two most common causes of the symptom (dies at particular temp) you described.
Glad to hear you got it fixed.
Mike, I know. I was thinking it was the ICM because it was related to Temperature. But the Tech at Pepboys, on I Really Trust, said that the PCM was missing a signal from the MAS, causing a code for the O2 sensor and miss fire in cylinder #1!
I would have never gone to the MAS but he changed it and the car has been running good since. I am gonna have to update my MAS knowledge!
