Should you change the weight of your oil, Just because of high miles?

Default RE: Engine Oil weight? Because of??

that depends.there is wear on the piston rings, a little on the pistons themselves, and the cylinder wall. a thinner oil can slip thru and end up in your fuel mixture. i would increase the weight if you're car is burning a little oil. if the car hasn't burned a drop in however many miles your running between changes, i wouldn't worry about it. if the car starts to burn a half quart-quart every few thousand, i'd move the weight up to about 10W 40 or so.

hope this is helps
