DrifTahoe engine swap
So I'm being optomistic and hoping my income tax check will be around $800. Why? Because one of my friends that helped me rebuild the Tahoe after the wreck has a friend with a turnkey GMPP HT383E (Vortec 383) crate engine. It has 0 miles, still in the crate wrapped in plastic. He can't do anything with it, so he told my friend he'd take $800 for it. Luckily its not publicly for sale...
I do have a few questions though.
1. Will I have to do anything to my transmission? Its got probably 50,000 miles on a 2nd rebuild. (I drive it pretty hard though.)
2. What should I do computer-wise?
3. Have any of y'all done this? Any advice?

What year Tahoe is it? I think that whatever year hoe it is, you are going to need to upgrade the tranny at some point. I am assuming that it is a 4l60e, correct? This tranny does have some weak links and they will show up with the more power you throw at it. (They are rated for 360ish ft/lbs of torque.)
Also, (without knowing anything specs on the 383, or your Tahoe), you may have some compatibility issues (fuel delivery, injection, definitely computer, etc.). Nothing that can not be overcome, it will just take some research, knowledge, and cash.
That being said, 800 bucks is a price I would jump at all day long!p
