Unhappy Car Died and Wont Start Again

I was at a stop light sitting there the light turned green I started to move the car started shaking stalled and then the engine turned off.

Luckily my friend was behind me and they pushed me into a parking lot after the car refused to start, it tries but won't... We then tried to jump it and it started and it ran horribly while shaking really bad... There is not metallic bangs or knocks either...

Got it towed home I checked all the fluids all appear to be filled properly, battery is newer and the starter is not that old.

Please help....

I would start with:
- Any trouble codes?
- Check for Vacuum Leaks
- Check for damaged cabling

Does it sound like a mis-fire? Common causes could be:
- Old/worn out spark plugs and wires
- Even heard of failing fuel pumps (check what your fuel pressure is)

Probably a fuel or spark related problem. Dont take my word for it but I think its your fuel pump.

i would agree with fuel pump as well, check your fuel pressure and if thats fine then move to checking spark. as stated above make sure there is no vacuum leaks and check for and engine codes. keep us posted and gl hope it works out for you soon and its something simple!

Could be mass air flow.
I had a similar problem and thought it was a leak, pump etc.

does your Rpm gauge go wild before cutting off?
like real high and low until it goes so low it cuts off?

The same thing happened to my 2004 Monte Carlo, I would change your fuel filter, or take it somewhere and have them check your fuel line pressure, its a guage they hook up, if it is really low then it means that your fuel pump is bad or is weak like mine was, and I ended up having to have it replaced, and after that was done it ran like new

It sounds like a fuel issue to me because you said it did start up but ran bad. It could be any number of things in the fuel system. I would start with the filter and go from there. And welcome to the site.

go to autozone and rent a fuel pressure gauge if you dont have one. my money is also on the fuel pump as it didnt want to start until you got the extra power from another car when jumping it. maybe the higher voltage from the other cars alt helped get it going.
