Default can i swap an a 3800 ss engine into a 3.4 ls?

I have 2 2000 Monte Carlos one is a ss and the other is an ls...is it possible to do an engine swap without changing wire harness transmission and a bunch of other junk?
1 is wrecked and the other has a bad tranny but both have good running engines

Yea it's possible but in all honesty it's not worth it what's so ever, all you're really getting out of it is 20 extra crank ponies If your lucky. Both engines have their share of problems so it isn't much of an upgrade

Odds are the gearing between the two trannies will be different coming from a 3400 and a 3800.

If you can swap the entire setup from one car to another, that would be the best bet.

Well, which Monte is wrecked? The LS or the SS? and of course, Which one has the less amount of miles?

Those are your 2 main questions because other than that, you have to swap out the whole thing from the "bad monte" onto the "good monte", and the 3400 and the 3800 have different trans gearing, so you can't really take 2 and 2 here to make 4, you literally have to go hunt down another trans even if the good monte has the bad trans.

This basically means, you're dropping the whole subframe and swapping out all the wiring, and possibly the ECU since the SS is supercharged.

The super charger was not offered on the 2000 Monte. But you are right, the PCM has to be swapped (or re-tuned) when swapping between a 3400 and 3800.

Well that was a fail on my part. Haha, I forget the MC didn't get the S/C until 2004.

No worries Nas, regardless your point is the same, the PCM still has to come along for the ride.
