Benifits of a 3500 top end swap?

Oh, ok I see what your saying. I thought you were thinking you has a non-VVT 3.5 in your Monte. Sorry, My bad. But Yea GM had more than one version of the 3.5L. The 3.5L in our Monte's and the Impala's is the latest version!

Maybe I will ... But for all that trouble, I'd personally go 3800 (L67)?
It's different swapping an engine that the model never came with.
A 3400 in a Beretta is old news. First one IIRC was done in 2003. A 3500 in a Beretta has been done I think 3 times now and nets some impressive times, even on street radials. A 3900 is not worth the hassle (VVT, among other issues). And there are a few Beretta L67-swaps out there that look nice but have trouble hooking up (even N/A ones). One owner was even quoted as saying if he knew how much a PITA it would be, he would have just swapped a 3400 instead.
As for my Monte, I have other plans. If I don't sell both Berettas by Spring, I might rebuilt the 3400. I have a shiny set of gasket-matched 3400 intake manifolds in my shed that I sent out a couple years ago to a place in Pennsylvania called Extrude Hone. If that's not the plan, then a game of "musical engines" is my other choice. (3100 from the 96 into the 94, 3400 w/only 30k miles from the 94 into the Monte w/said intakes, and 3500 from a yard into 96 Beretta w/DHP tune). However, my house needs a lot of work done first. It takes precedence over all my cars, unfortunately.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
