Default Added HP, New Exhaust/ Muffler

So i have been reading some info on these forums and i had a question about my own monte carlo, i have a plug & play tuner for the meantime to get rid of DOD. I have been looking for a few ways to add HP while staying within emission standards and keeping it street legal. What would be a good exhaust system for my 2006 SS Monte Carlo? Or what are some suggestions that you can give for added power and sound?

Lose the resonator. Mine passed emissions fine and sounds really good. Not noisy at all. Beats spending a fortune on an exhaust system. If you are stock it's not going to help at all.

Do you think it would pass California emissions w no resonator?

Yes, the resonator has no effect on emissions.

I have a resonator delete and flowmasters, not sure what series/type because they were on when I purchased. I was thinking of a muffler delete but probably too much since I have no resonator already.

I would agree with that but if you want to get rid of the mufflers, put a res on. Ive heard an ls4 with just a resonator before and its sounded pretty good. A little loud but still good.

Yeah I don't think a res and muffler delete are a good idea for avoiding a ticket.

I have a Cat only, eliminated the resonator and it sounds really good. No loud noise, just throaty, but on the Interstate it's pretty quiet. Since then we have eliminated emissions testing, so may lose the cat and just put a muffler.
