7th Gen Battery Cable HELP PLEASE!
2006 Monte Carlo LT. let me begin by saying sorry for no pics but its dark out now and ill add some tomorrow as i feel theyd help make sense of what im trying to describe. lets start at the beginning. since ive bought the car it has had excessive corrosion on the positive battery cable and terminal. a few weeks ago i decided to do something about it and removed the cables and cleaned off all the corrosion with some water and baking soda. the nut that tightens the positive cable wouldnt turn so i had to jiggle it off. reinstalled cables and everything was fine for a few days. shortly after went to start the car and nothing happened. got out and jiggled positive cable and got power again and car started. this began happening more and more frequently so today i tried loosening that nut and the clamp itself broke in half! there is still enough material left to make contact and start the car but i dont want to be driving like this for long as i am a delivery driver so not only do i need my car to do my job, but i also find myself in 'unpleasant' parts of town frequently and dont want to be stranded.
now that the long description is over, do i have any options besides paying the stealership an arm and a leg for a new cable? are the cables interchangeable from a 6th gen? and more importantly, are there other gm cars that have side post batterys and the cables would interchange with my monnte? i know 4th gen camaros are side post, i just dont know if the connectors on the positive cable are the same as the ground cable wouldnt really matter. i know this isnt the best written post but hopefully someone out there has some ideas. i wish they never switched back from side post batterys especially not with the flimsy cables the 7th gens use!

well no one has commented but ill add some things. what i thought was a connector coming off of the positive cable is just a connector attatched to the positive cable and thus makes this swap a lot easier. also a coworker of mine gave me a jump today and he has a 97 gxp and wouldnt you know those are side post batteries and the cables look almost identical to my montes cables, so i will be calling around to some junkyards tomorrow and i will keep you guys updated!

why not just get a new cable from an auto parts store and be done with it....... after I read this yesterday I checked out Advance auto online and it looks like it will cost less than $10 bucks!

well i dont really want to crimp the connections as i feel that will be another point where it will fail and its got to last 3 more years until i can trade it in for an ss =D plus i really want to switch to side post and i think that this 04 IMPALA POSITIVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLES | eBay will work, i just have to take a look at my car again and make sure the cables are the right length and all, so ill keep you guys updated. eitehr way i should probably look into a new battery as the battery is 6 years old now and i start my car upwards of 50 times a day so its probably worn out, so now is a good time to switch to side post =)

well an update. the side post idea didnt work, a couple wires were too short. it couldve worked if i could have found a battery with the positive terminal on the right of the battery but i wasnt able to locate one =( but got a new cable from the dealership ($115, could be worse i guess) and car is back on the road. the new cable has a slightly different terminal on it that doesnt look half as flimsy and hopefully holds up atleast 3 more years =)
