Default 7th Gen SS owners, please help.

My dad has an '06 White Monte SS and he's running into a problem, I was wondering if anyone has had this on the forum. (and he is out of warranty)

When using his remote starter (standard on the car) and he gets in and put the key in and everything, half of the time he can't shift the car out of park. He'll have to turn the car off, and then back on with the key and then it will finally let him shift.

Anyone know what could be causing this? So far it only happens with the remote start.

Hell, I haven't heard of this before. I hope you can find out what is wrong, and let us know.

I wish I could help.

Is he turning the key all the way to the run position? I've gotten in a few times and forgot to even take the key outta my pocket.

Only thing that's been real common so far is crappy range due to faulty receivers in the car itself.

Yeah I've never heard of that.. I've had an issue where I've gotten in my car and I've had to push the button in kind of hard because it was stuck, but that was when it's really really cold out.. And usually that is just the 1st time in the morning.. After that, it is fine all day long.

I do have crappy range too on my remote starter, but is there really anything that we can do about this?? I mean besides putting an aftermarket one in.

What is supposed to be the range that the factory remote starter FOB?

He definitely turns the key all the way, and it doesn't happen everytime.

IDK about the range, it seems fine to us. While in the house we can start the car, wait a few minutes and then go out to the garage and get it.

My range also seems decent. To get some more feet put the FOB up to your chin and push the buttons. It usually doubles the range.

that really wasn't a joke, the higher you hold the FOB the better the reception :P

Not joking on bit... Your skull acts as a great transmitter for the FOB's signal. It may cause brain cancer though...

Now that last part was a joke. Carry on laughing your *** off! lol
