I have a '78 MC with 350 engine and TH350 transmission. When I bought the car I didn't get the driveshaft with it. Could anyone give the the length of the driveshaft that should be in there? I got one from a junkyard but it was from an '81 mc and it is too long.

 

You can have a drive shaft custom made. Check the yellow pages or internet for a company in your area. You can also have an existing shaft shortenend or lengthened. I had to shorten a shaft when I put a 402 Big block and TH400 in my 77 Monte.

 

I have a 1986 MC with a 406 and TH400 and upgraded 7.5 rear. I need the length for a new driveshaft. Does anyone know the length.

 

Get a tape measure and record the length needed. Most driveline shops will ask for Two measurements. One from the back of the tail shaft (seal area) to the center of the cup on the rear differential and one from the output shaft to the center of the cup.This must be done with it flat on the ground or with jack stands under the rear end.
