5.3 V8 in a 6th gen ?
I know I'm kinda late to the party here, but I'd also advise against doing it. For all the parts you need to do a full swap, you'd likely easily be into it for more than the car is worth, plus all your time and labor. On top of that, transmission failures are common with them, and honestly 300 hp isn't really as great as it sounds- you could easily have that with a 3800 swap (say an L36 with a turbo, or some bolt ons to an L67 swap) for a lot cheaper, and a lot easier. The LS4's really aren't super easily to make big power gains with, especially compared with the L67.
I'd say, if you really want a monte w/ the LS4- just pick up an SS, or look into a GXP- prices on them are pretty low comparatively anyways- and you may even be able to still get one with a factory warranty.
If you're set on keeping your monte, I'd go the 3800 route- easier, cheaper, and you can make just as much power (I'm sure theoretically your maximum would be higher with the LS4, but at that point you aren't going to be able to get traction or a transmission to hold up behind it anyways, so it would be useless anyways).

E85 conversion only does you good if you live in an area where E85 is easy to find. And there are plenty of swaps that people do that cost as much or more than the car is worth. Notably the LS motor swaps into classic vehicles. You have guys spending 5+ grand on those swaps. And you do have to spend a pretty penny to get an L67 to put out over 300 hp. And a turbo 3800 is even more expensive to be honest because of the fab work involved. It's all gonna be expensive. It just depends on how you want to spend your money. To each their own and it's always fun seeing someone do something different.

I've got the 3800 in my car now... I believe it's just the 37, not 67. It's just a guy has a eng trans for 1300 right now here in Milwaukee. What kind of deal is it to instal a 38oo supercharger in my car? What all needs changed besides the engine, I was told that a "top swap" won't work on my 3800, so I'd have to swap engines. What route would you go? Thanks.. Mjc...
It would be the L36 (Series II N/A, L67 is Series II S/C, L26 is Series III N/A, and L32 is Series III S/C). Why do you say you couldn't do a top swap? Heck, you could swap in a Gen V Eaton instead of the Gen III and have a better blower. That's my current plan once I am comfortable that my trans can handle it (and have the power to do it). Top swaps are relatively simple to do on the 3800s to be honest and are a fairly common upgrade. I will probably use Series III heads and blower and use the Series II MAF so I don't have to convert to DBW when I do it.
Are you? And thats crazy I forgot how cheap it was. Oh its seriously easy too, its like a 30 minute project. You only need 4 parts.
I'm not to sure what all these terms means.. I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but I am a woman..lol :P
What is a "sleeper"... what is a top swap and why is it easy and cheap?
L67? Oh geesh, I probably sound like a fool, but I guess you have to ask questions to learn right?
Thanks ya'll!

Sleeper = car that looks slow but is actually fast
Top Swap= is putting the heads intake, supercharger & other parts off the supercharged 3800 motors, its not all that cheap to do nore is it easy
L67= Supercharged 3800 found in 04-05 ss supercharged montes & gtp grand prixs
L36 is the 3800 in your car
& its not stupid to ask questions on stuff
