5.3 V8 in a 6th gen ?
I would advise from using a hybrid PCM tune like that though.
When you grab tables from the L67 and drop them on your L36 you lose the ability to control timing advance while in boost.

I'm not getting knock so I have no issue with it haha.
Meh, its a top swap, I'm not scared of blowing up a 260hp motor.
You act like 04 was the first year of the L67. Actually, the Impala and Monte were the only cars (except a few Buicks in 04) with the L67 in 04 and 05 (Bonneville had already dropped it in favor of the Northstar). The GPs had already gone to the more powerful L32s.
The GTPs had the same transmission as the 00-02 Montes so it's not like an L67 has never been mated to that tranny. You're running under the assumption that you can only use the 04-05 PCMs on a top swap Monte (at least that's what it seems from my perspective). L67s were around several years before the Monte got them. Upgrade the internals of the transmission (which you'd want to at least refresh the tranny anyway) to HD specs and you're good to go on the tranny. Blocks and pistons and crank (basically everything other than the "top") are the same on the L36 and all but the 04-05 L67s. Only thing that changed for the 04 were the connecting rods. I'm not going to buy another tranny that I have no clue what it looks like internally nor another block that's identical to the one I have. That's why I'm doing a topswap. I'll be pulling everything anyway and I'm not buying more parts that are the same as the ones I have, nor am I taking a chance of buying another transmission only to need a rebuild. Rebuild the one I have and go from there. If you knew the luck I have with transmissions, you would understand why I gotta do it this way for my own peace of mind.

Im using my origonal L36 to do my top swap aswell as building up my old trans for it, im gonna try to get forged internals for it cuz eventually im gonna go turbo but for now im goin with fully ported blower & heads, im gonna try to use most of the L67 harness i got,
So, to do this the correct way would just buy a 3800 supercharged with a tranny.... There is a guy that has one on CL right now, if he still has it I'm. Using it, he only wants $550 for the whole thing, entire engine and trans, has 67,000 on them... So this would be the way to go, then just put in a newer fuel pump PCM, AND ????? I think this would be the best route then , right? Thanks to all of you for the help... Mjc..
That's a pretty good deal. I'd look over everything really carefully though and even with the lower miles I'd recommend freshening up the transmission just in case it was run real hard in that 67k miles. That's the thing that makes me nervous about doing that type deal. Plus mine won't be a straight L67 either. Mine will be a hybrid L67/L32

MY INFORMATION IN THE ABOVE FEW POSTS ONLY APPLIES TO 00-02 MONTE CARLOS.
He was simply asking WHY he was hearing conflicting information on top-swapping his car.
You will also need to make some modifications to your engine harness, unless you grab one of those too.
