^^^ what 666 said times two.
And stearns81, the op specifically said 5.3 DOHC, which gm does not make.

I have run race gas both in my monte and my gtp, actually I believe my monte currently has a 1/2 tank of Sunoco 100 unleaded. They do not pop pistons out of your hood. Race gas != nitromethane or alcohol.

Do you really think race gas blows up normal engines? Cam2 is no different than any other race gas company like Torco, Sunoco, etc etc.

Maybe you missed the posts above? You can't buy the exact gas NASCAR uses- you can buy the other CAM2 race fuels- and as long as you get the unleaded kind, you could run it in place of your current gas 24/7.

I'd bet I'm not the only person who has run race gas on here...

Please post a link to people blowing their engine up specifically because of this race gas...

Chevy does make a 5.3 or 5300 V8. I think it a newer 327 or something close to that. Google it. It is in the newer pickups like the chevy colorado. So bumpin I don't know why you didn't google that you google cam 2. If it fits I think It's a good idea. You can't go wrong with a V8.
I must be retarded, I didn't even think of that....

oh wait- I've got a Chevy 5.3 in my GXP, lol- the LS4. It is actually closer to 325 cubic inches.

You need to read the rest of the OP's post:

5.3L
Cam2
DOHC
Supercharger/Turbo
AWD
N2O
The current 5.3 (LS4 or any of the various other LS based 5.3's) are OHV (over head valve), cam in the block- not DOHC (dual overhead cam). I don't know of any conversion kit to make the LS engines DOHC either. Hence, why I was asking what kind of car the 5.3 DOHC was going to come from... Maybe GM made some sort of prototype 5.3 DOHC at some point, or maybe the OP was talking about an engine from a totally different vehicle?

Here's some proof:

That's not a 5.3 specifically, its a 6.0L LS2, but the engines are fundamentally the same (especially when compared to the RWD 5.3's). As you can see- the timing chain with the single cam in the block behind it- and just behind the first exposed piston there, you can see the lifters, rockers- and you can follow that all the way up to the rockers which actuate the valves (and note the lack of an OHC).

edit- beat me to it sideways!

wow i skimmed this whole thread and saw that pic. thats funny, way to break up the monotony of dumb q and a.

you can put any small block you want in there. some guy on here stuffed an ls7 in his, used 300m tranny parts and moved stuff all over his car. he invested a lot of money into his car, left it fwd and cant hook up very good, plus he has overheating issues.

if you want 1000 hp go to your doctor and get some extenze or cealis. obviously your lacking when you look down. if you have that much money to waste go outside and have some fun. go to a bar, meet some people, get laid, knock her up, pay some child support. thats the real american dream.

either that or go into a lot of debt and get a new camaro. thats what most midlife crisises are all about.

Yeah, I think it's a good time. There's really no fundamental information in this thread, and it has just become a giant argument.
