Default 4th Gen Monte fuel tank question.

Ok so I have an 86 SS and I just dropped he fuel tank for cleaning and i also removed the "guts" basically the level sending unit and all. I never liked the idea of mounting an external fuel pump for my engine so my question is this. I know in 1987 they had a fuel injection option on the LS Monte Carlo. Being that its still a 4th gen I would assume that the "guts" or fuel pump and sending units that mount in the tank of an 87 would fit in an 86 being that the tank should be the same. Can anyone offer any input on this. The main reason im wondering is because of the "O-Ring" or mounting area. Not sure if its the same size or not.

I don't know if they are the same. But I think there's a way to drop a in tank pump in there.Or I know that there are fuel cells with in tank pump that mount in the factory locationThe cost didn't seam to bad the last time I looked.

Thanks Zen, from what I can tell they look to be the same size. It didnt hurt to drop my tank anyway seeing as how im cleaning up alot of surface rust i found. Going to take care of that while i have the tank out. Nice 77 Monte by the way!
