Default 3800 swap issues

Hello all!

I have a 00' ss monte that developed a rod bearing knock. Sat for a year after that. Now I have time to do some work! Still fired up sitting that long with a bad knock lol.

Got it down to shop a week ago and found a used Buick 3.8 out of a lesabre. Swap went pretty smooth out and in. I learned the hard way flex plates are different, torque converter bolt holes off 1/4".nothing a carbide burr couldn't fix. "New" motor cranks excellent. I reinstalled all accessories and gave it a try. She coughed and tried to start, but no. Pulled all plugs, soaked In gas. Dried and replaced. RAN FOR 5 MIN AFTER. Sounded great. Then died. Didn't stumble, didn't miss, just fell on its face. All plugs soaked in fuel again. I bought a new ICM today, made no difference.

I'm at a bit of a loss. the plugs, coils,PCV, MAP, EGR, emission solenoid, throttle body, fuel rail & injectors are all off previous motor. Which did run before getting pulled.

I'm starting to wonder if Buick and chevy crank sensors send different signals to PCM. Any theories? Thank you in advance, monte fam!

-Dan

Does it still turn over? Wondering if its possible a cylinder wasnt firing and ended up hydro locking if it died that suddenly and had that mucu excess fuel.

I pulled all plugs before I left shop yesterday. I bet when I put them back it will do the same; start and run for 5 min, and then die with all 6 plugs wet with fuel. It feels like an ignition/ timing issue

Just not sure I see the correlation between incorrect spark timing and lots of excess fuel on the plugs. I'd think youd still burn all of the fuel off even if the ignition timing was off. To have that much raw fuel leftover makes me think it's way over fueling.

What are the fuel trims, front O2s, MAF, MAP, and timing advance readings?

Problem solved.

I had swapped crank pulley from the old chevy motor onto the new Buick, but I didn't swap crank or cam sensors because they looked identical. Sure enough, crank sensor has a different number stamped on it. I swapped cam and crank sensors, and it fired right up. Must have been timing issue. I ran it for half hour total today and sounded good. It is idling a little fast, sitting at 1400. IAC valve is crusty looking, replacing tomorrow.

Thank you for your input! Always appreciated.
