Default 305 running like crap at idle

Well I have a 1988 Monte with a 305 all stock I got it about 4 months ago. It ran pretty good but it started leaking antifreeze out of the intake manifold gasket. So I decided to change the gaskets. All went well when changing them, made sure #1 piston was all the way up when putting distributer back in. When we finally got everything done I started her up and man! she was running bad! Seems like there's a miss. Everyone has been telling me its a vacuum leak but there's no way I've been messing with this this thing for about two weeks and its not a vacuum leak. I did however block off the egr because I was going to put a edelbrock on but put the qjet back on thinking it was the edelbrock causing it to ran like crap. But it runs the same with either carb on it. I got it to were it will idle and its drivable but I can't stand the way its running. I replaced the plugs wires cap and rotor and coil is new. I just can't think of anything else that is causing it to run like this. Thanks for any help

Have you taken a timing light to it to see where your timing is?

What all have you done? When running I tried to delete my egr aswell with bad results,

Did you replace the original computer controled dist with a vacume advance one?

I did take a light to it but there is no numbers just a notch in the balancer. And its still a computer controlled. I don't think its a timing issue I have even tried setting it 180 out just to see if it was 180 out but it just backfired out the carb. The only thing I could think of is the egr but the edlebrock is a non egr carb so it shouldn't matter with it but it still runs like crap.

You need to get rid of the rest of the computer controlled stuff, there is a write up in the how to section under 4th gen section
