a short socket and a 3/8 drive rachet is all you should need i have taken plenty off !!
a pic would help to what problem you a having though i am sure if we could see that some one would have a trick

ok this is real hard. LOL
use a GOOD open ended wrench.
I know it will work on there. i have done way to many of them to know other wise.
the box end should have worked also . but it wont go all the way down on there.
I had one i bent just for this and distribitors for the small blocks.

Good luck

If this dont work i guess TNT would be the next one i would try LOL

Did u ever get the manifold off? If not try removing the EGR block off plate in pic 1 and like said above use a top quality tool.

Also a couple other tricks, grind down the outside of a cheap box end wrench so its flat and fits in there, same with a cheap socket.

You could also try getting a set of wrenches with an offset angle.

Here is a kit from Sears that might help you out. One side of each wrench has the standard 15 degree offset and the other has an 80 degree offset and is made specifically for this purpose. I still recommend going with Craftsman, this link happens to use Armstrong and I've never used them before.
