Default 2006 SS Transmission is DEAD

My 2006 Monte Carlo SS just had the transmission die at 83k miles. After 2 days the dealership still hasn't figured out exactly what the problem is.

Thank God for my extended warranty that still has 17k miles left on it. Honestly I've seen quite a few SS Monte's at transmission shops over the last 4 years. This engine is too powerful for the piece-of-**** GM transmission. I don't think I will ever buy a GM vehicle again.

Don't just make a hate thread. You have the extended warranty, that is why they are there. GM did make a bad move by mating the 4t65e-hd to this engine since the 300HP mark is about it's failing point, but it's not like the car is a lemon. This next transmission could easily last the rest of the life of the car.

Hi Bill,
Sorry to read about your problem with your transmission. I feel the frustration in your words....Happy 2 read that you had a warranty...

If you will please answer the following questions to help others that have the same or similar Monte.
1. Are you the original owner ?
2. Did you ever have your trans serviced (fluid change & filter) ? If so, how many times ?
3. How did you drive your Monte S.S.
a. easy
b. Aggressively, but did not abuse.
c. Drove it hard & Raced EveryTHing : )

4. What were your first signs of problems ?
5. Did you have any mod's ?

Thanks for sharing & Good Luck on repairs.
