did you put sugar in your coffee?¿? KIDDING!! I have no idea what difference that could make except for maybe the electronics part of the shifter got damp. . . . . . other than that no ideas. . . . .good luck though

Manual has one alternate - by chance it may not be totally on the same circuit

1.Turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY.
2.Apply and hold the brake pedal down until the end of Step 4.
3.Shift to NEUTRAL(N).
4.Start the engine and shift to the drive gear you want.
5.Have the vehicle fixed as soon as you can.

I had to extend my wires to the shifter casue the 7th gen has issues with pulling the wires out of the plug on the shifter.

Take the cup holder out (pop up the center console door and should be able to get it from there)

Unscrew the phillips screw on the shift and take the handle off.

You will see two bolts under the cup holders and two bolts(maybe four) in the center console, take them out and now you should be able to get complete access to the shifter assembly. Unplug the harness and clean it with wd40 (non conductive and will clean the pins. Check for losse plugs or disconnected wires.

WD40 will stain so be carefull.

test out the shift by just plugging in the harness and starting the car and apply the break, should be able to shift now.

Also check the owners book for the shift relay or fuse make sure that is not blown due to the coffee spill.

Let us know what you find.

Default Sticky shifting

I spilled pop in my gear shift mess. I took the thing apart and cleaned it up with fantastic or some other cleaner. It helped big time, however, sometimes when pushing the button, especially when it is cold, it doesn't always work.

Another issue I had was when I put the car in park, the button doesn't go all the way forward and I can't take the keys out. I have to quickly press and release the button to get it to unlock.

Good luck with the clean up, I hope you have better luck than I did.
