I was thinking about putting a converter on my monte carlo and was wondering what ones would be a good match. Also, I am planning on putting nos on it soon.

 

Torque converter or catalytic converter? Catalytic- stock is fine. Torque converter- ZZP carries different torque converters for the 4t65 (not sure what bolt pattern the LS4 uses though). The only thing with a torque converter is, if you go with a higher stall- its going to likely end up being slower on the street. With a car this traction limited, on street tires you're going to have an even harder time hooking up off the line (since you'll be starting at a higher rpm with more power). It'll be great at the track with some slicks on- but that'll also tear up an already weak tranny.

Well, as I said- ZZP sells good converters for the 4t65's, also- it may be a good idea to send an email to triple edge performance since they're a big 4t65 company- and they may have a better recommendation.

Do you run slicks at the track?

Also, its kinda hard for us to tell you which converter would be better without knowing your mod setup.

As I probably mentioned in the last post- you're going to want to think about a built trans too. A more sloppy converter = more heat, and launching at higher rpms- especially if you're running slicks/DR's is going to kill your trans real quick if its stock (heck enough people kill these things on the street on stock engines, lol).

 

check on ls1tech for this. theres multiple threads on it in the ls4 section. tep is where everyone goes for all there tranny needs. if your going to run n2o youre probably going to want a convertor with an anti-ballon plate.

 

good luck with that i'm on my 3rd transmission on my 2006 ss don't race the car but drive it pretty hard first time converter came apart sending material throught the tranny.2nd time I haven't even looked 2,000.00 a pop it's getting old quick. car has 90,000.I leave my raceing to my rear wheel drive car!
