Default 2004 SS Supercharged Performance suggestions

Were new to the forum and just bought our first Monte carlo. I'm a mechanic and have owned 2 other 3800 powered cars before, but this is my first supercharged car period. I'd like to add a little power to it. I'll have a little money here and there so it will be a slow process, and I'm not looking to make it an all out race car. Just add little more power (not that its not fun to drive already)

I'm going to be doing the lower intake gasket and valve cover gaskets myself in a month or so and was wondering if there were any low budget mods we could do while were at it (used the gasket to get $500 knock off the price). I know I'm going to have to keep knock retard down. We'll have a budget of around $300-$350 and I should only spend around $50 on the LIM gaskets and heater elbows (I get parts at cost where I work) so that will leave me with $250-$300 for mods. So far its bone stock other then a drop in K&N airfilter that I installed today. I also have access to a tech 2, alldata and shopkey if I need it. What would you suggest for starter mods on our budget. Thank you for any help

You can start with maybe a CAI and the U-Bend delete.

Thank you. I kinda thought getting it to breathe better would be the first step. Plus the supercharger will sound awesome with a CAI. What CAI and down pipe would you recommend for a budget? Do they make direct fit kits? I want to do it right and not make it look like crap, and I'm not good at fabricating, lol. My other cars were Bonnevilles (94 and 99) and they didn't make anything direct fit. The furthest I went with them was gutting the air box and cat back exhaust with high flow convertor

before the down pipe do the ubend delete. no reason to get better flow from the downpipe when the u bend will restrict it as much anyways. k an n make a direct fit and so does wizaired.

sorry I was thinking the u bend was the down pipe for some reason, lol. Where is the u bend and how do I go about deleting it? Is there somewhere that describes how to do it? I'll check out the direct fit cai systems. I'll probably try for the k&n CAI because it looks better and isn't much more then the wizaired once you add the filter.

edit: I found what the u bend is lol, I have a welder and can do it myself no problem, just one thing, what diameter is the pipe so I can get all the parts together before I put it on a lift. Thank you

The u-bend delete is part of the downpipe if you get a bolt-on downpipe.

Go to zzperformance.com, and look at the exhaust section.
Their downpipes are very good quality, and reasonably priced.
Get a 3" one for a supercharged car.

As far as direct fit stuff - almost everything drivetrain related that is made for a 97-03 grand prix GTP will fit on the supercharged monte.

There is a good thread at the beginning of the headers/intake/exhaust section that details what mods are available for these cars.

Thank you

Went for a drive today with the tech 2 to get an idea of how much KR the engine had from the start. For the most part its 0, but at WOT around 4000 RPMs it will jump to 1 occasionally and one time it went to 3, but. We bought the car used and it had a quarter tank so my thoughts are its getting KR becuase that quarter tank was probably regular. The day I bought it I filled it with high test and dropped in some octane booster just incase they filled it with regular, but I think it will be a few tanks before its 100% hight test. I'll test it agin in a few weeks.

I'm on hold on the mods til I find out how much its going to be to transfer the plates. My insurance is also $600 a year higher so that's puts a dent in the mod money. I will start with the zzp downpipe with u bend delete and high flow cat. Do I also need to get the 02 sensor extension? Also, is the 304 stainless worth the $20 extra compared to the aluminized? We live in New Hampshire which uses salt in the winter and this is my only car

Stainless would definitely hold up better in salt corrosion then aluminized, so I think it would be worth it.
