Vertical doors help
Does anybody have feedback on vertical bolt door conversion kits? I have found one here http://www.viniati.com/00up-chevrole...n-p-15583.html, is it too expensive?
Thanks

I am looking in to this as well, a vertical door kit is about a thousand dollars, and the install is about $700.00, Just talk with people that have done it and ask them questions on how they did theirs and how much their install was, from what i have been told is you should have this installed by somebody who has done it before. They are bolt on kits and i have heard they are not easy to install they do request time and patience. I would say this kit and istall would be no more than 2 thousand dollars to do. Just ask the ownersat car shows as well.
I personally would not get lambo doors. 1.they are veryexpensive 2. not practical for a daily driver 3. may run into problems because the doors are sooo huge and heavy 4. the installationwill most likely be a biach. But hey, if thats what u like dont let me hold u back! They look cool.
the weight of the doors has soem to do with it but those hinges are VERY STURDY. we were at a show with a hella wind commign threw and the guy next to me had them on his camaro. they didnt not ever budge they shook and swaed but never even thought of comming down.
as faras on a dailly driver i know a few folks that have done it and they said it was nto to bad just took some gettign used to. AND you have a advantage in the sens of tight parkign you cna still get in to the car most of the time LOL
the reason i never did this with mine was i looked in to it alot.
1. price for kit and install i thought was crazy
2. the fact that all the wireing in the door has to be messed with kind of bugged me I dont like cuttign harnesses any more then i have to.
3. they can come out of aling ment but it is not to offte and when it dose ya just need to adjust them again some .
4. they do cause wind noise in some cars DEPENDING on the person that has put them in to the car.
5. you need to also find out if on the montes if you have to roll the fneders some or cut them some for clearnes clarnce.
6. if ya ever get in to a tight spot that you dont think of it and dont look up you can smak your door .
but other then all of the above i thought they looked great and still do.
but make sure you get someoen that can stand behind them for you.
Also the more money the kit is most of the time the better it is for just a bolt in etc... So make sure you knwo what all comes in thekit and wha tthey need to install them. I would sugest goign to the body shop in minde for you and see if they cant get them cheaper or a better kit then this if needed ( i havent looked at it other then real fast to see what you were talking about

ive looked into them as well...but im not sold on them, like taz said its scary to mess with the wiring, also not all of them meet safety standards, make sure u get some that are or u risk really injuring urself in an accident, otherwise i think they r a great idea and prolly one of my future mods!
I think they are nice but they are crazy hard to install. You really need to drill and line up acurately. None of this "damn I was off 1/4 inch" stuff. They have adjustments, but the minor change that you make translates to a big change when the door latches.
Too much headache in the long run.
