Default Scratch repair

I did a forum search and didnt come up with an answer. Some A-hole took a key to my trunk lid at the grocery store. I went out and bought some meguires scratch repair and after application I can still see these marks. The scratchs are not all the way to the paint so I would think it would be easy to repair. Any suggestions?

Get some 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper and a buffer. U need a wool pad, and a foam compound pad. Wetsand the scratch out with 1500 and then sand the 1500 scratches out with the 2000 grit. Get the wool pad on the buffer and some compound and buff it back to a shine at 1800 rpm. Then get the foam pad and use some finer compound on it and buff at 2200 rpm until you are happy with the look. Then get some hand glaze and put some glaze over where you buffed. Done.

Thank you I guess I need to hire someone to do this then. I'm not a gear head and would hate to screw up that kind of job.

now tha tyou have done that then buff the rest of the car also LOL
other wise you will see it as a shinny spot and the rest fo the car can come out dull.

but the good news is in this day and age take it to the local detail shop and get it done and then point it out and tell them to do it while it is there and you get a car that looks brand new when your done and it is clean also LOL

Scratch X takes multiple applications and a lot of elbow grease. Work the product in real good so its diminishes until dry. Do it again, again and again....

the buffer is jsut about your best bet. do not do it your self unless you know how to do it. if you take it some where to get it fixed dont have them sand it. it is a liability to you and can make it even worse. your are better off shining it up. if you arent happy with this get some pinstripes and lace it right ove the sctatch or get someone to do paint pinstripe that can make it look good with a little graphic.
