Default Removing Interior panels

Well I've gotten the dash, doors, and the trim around the door frames removed. I've been trying for hours google and toying with the center console and the quarter panels in the back seat. I really need some help with this, and it would be nice to get all these tutorials for panel removal together and stickied.

it's been 3 years since i took off the console i will try my best explaining. i might miss couple steps, but i'm sure someone will chime in or you might probably will figure out. it's not that hard really.

i'm going by how i done mine you might do differently once you figure out.

turn the ignition to the on position

pull the the shifter all the way back. disconnect the battery. reason i disconnect the battery cuz the beeping noise drive me nuts, but if you can bear the beep leave the battery connect.

if you look below the shifter **** you will see a small opening slit. there's actually a metal clip in there. use a small flat head screw driver and prive out the clip. when the clip come off the shifter **** should be able to pull off.

open the arm rest box and take out what ever junk you have out. on the bottom of the box there's a plastic rubber piece. pull out the rubber piece and there are 6 screws. i can't remember what socket size. take all 6 screws out.

take a small flat head screw driver and prive out the heat seat panel and disconnect the connector. do same thing to the traction control.

once all the above are done the console should pull right out the shifter handle. if that doesn't come out there might be few screws inside the center console.

if you look at the side where the heat seat panel is to the end of the console under the HVAC control you can see about 1/4 of the console is split in 2 halves. you can pop that half of the top console off if there's more screw holding it, but i don't thinks there's any beside the 6 in the arm rest box.

i never took out the back quarter panel in the monte carlo but i did change all the interior trims and seats in my father's GTP last week. imo the interior trims look almost identical to the monte carlo.

here's the steps when i done the grand prix interior trims.

the back seat and backing need to come off. to take out the seat, there's an attachment under the seat that need to pull on and the seat should be push back and up. after the seat is out there are 3 bolts holding the seat backing. socket size i used was 18. since the monte carlo seat can fold down and the 97-03 grand prix can't i imagine once all the 3 bolts are out the seat backing should come off.

top trim

pop open the seat belt cover by the door there you will see a huge @$$ allen screw. the screw need to come off. both the driver/passenger seat belts ends are held by one nut. loosen the nut out. to take out the coat hanger behind the front seat use a flat head screw driver and prive out the small square block in the coat hanger until the whole piece slid all the way out. once that is out the coat hanger should come off. the top trim piece should now able to pop off. be careful not to rip off any plastic push pins as you pulling it off.

bottom quarter panel

pull the panel off, start from the bottom and work your way up. again be careful not trying to break any of the push pin plastic screws. as you pulling on the panel right when you almost near the small back window there are 2 metal clips holding the bottom panel. lift it up as you pulling off the panel.

the direction should give you an idea as you taking off the console and panels. last week was my first time i ever change seats/interior trims on any cars i own.

here's the interiors of the grand prix as you can see it's almost same as the monte carlo.

WOW
Your interior looks amazing, wish i had enough money to get new upholstery.
The giant nut holding the seat belts has had em worried. Wasn't sure if it was legal for me to remove it since it anchors the seat belts.

Thanks for the help man i really appreciate it.

Default removing interior

Hi all, late to the monte tinkerin, but took some pics if any1 else is gunna do it.

removin the lower seat: Mine just popped out, but I think you just gotta push back & up. There are 2 plastic clips attached 2 the seat that snap into the floor (no pic)

removin the long cushion between the seats: This should just pull out. Find the plastic clips. They are pushed into bolts stickin out of the metal bracket below the upper seat. Mine didn't have any nuts on them. Maybe the previous owner removed them? (no pic)

removin the upper seat: Fold down & you'll see the 4 bolts just under the top. Those are ez. Unclip the middle seat belt by pushin a flat screwdriver into the red slot. Now there are 2 bolts on each side of the metal bracket underneath the seat. Then there are 3 nuts - 2 attach the seat belts. (pic #1)

removin the coat hanger clip: insert a small screwdriver into the slot & it pops out about almost 1/4 inch. Then I thought you could then remove the whole thing, but you can't. You have to pry out that whole pin that popped out a little. Use a bigger screwdriver or a pair of pliers to remove the pin all the way out. Then the clip pops out ez. (pic #2)

removin the top panel: top definitely comes 1st. Take out the seat belt bolt with a T47 torx socket. Under that is a metal clip that snaps out. This panel is pretty tuff, but don't yank recklessly. You'll see next to the hole where the coat hanger clip came out is a patch of velcro. Shouldn't they all be like this? But noooooo.....you'll see behind the back window is 1 of those fun plastic push pins. Luckily mine popped right out. The 1 near the end is just a nub - don't worry about it. When all that is loose, just lift up & remove it. (pic #3)

removin the bottom panel: Someone said start from the bottom. I don't know why? As you can see, there's only 3 plastic push pins. Just stick a small pry bar in from the top & pop those bad boys out. You'll be able to see them ez. Just pull a little around the door jamb. You may want to push thru the seat belt. Take a flat screwdriver to the bottom clips & gently pry it out. Once the clip is out, you can slide the belt thru the slot, then you're free to push the belt thru. Wiggle the panel around the seat belt bolt in the bottom corner & it's out. (pic #4)

Well, I had some nice pics for yall, but when I went to "attach image", it's askin for a URL address. WTF?!? If someone can tell me how to attach pics from my comp, I'd be happy to.
