Default Removing Door Panels

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and I wondering if it's hard to remove the door panels so I can get to my door speaker ? Is there clips or any hidden screws thatI need to know of ?

Hi `Joe,
What I've done before I attempted to mess up my ride is
to stop by a stereo install shop or Body Shop,
and ask them how difficult it is to remove.
I've found that they will show you for nothing, and just to
help you `out.I'm always concerned that I will mess
something up `if I don't have a diagram, or the knowledge
to do it correctly.

Below is the information I had in my file search
I hope it helps, good luck from `Space

1. Remove the screw holding the door-open handle bezel, and remove the bezel. Unhook the power door lock switch (if equipped) and set the bezel aside.

2. Carefully remove the power window switch from it's bezzel. There are 4 small clips, 2 on each side of the switch. Once you remove the switch from the bezel, the bezzel can be gently pried out the top of the panel w/ a small screw driver from the front.

3. Starting at the front w/ a small screw driver, pry out (gently!) the trim inlay that's above the arm rest...

4. Use a #30 torq bit to remove the large screw towards the top of the opening where the trim inlay was.

5. Remove the 4 philips head screws around the perimeter of the door panel.

6. Lift up on the door panel... you may have to shake it a bit.... and after moving upwards no more that an inch... the panel should come off.

Good Luck `Joe

Default RE: DOOR PANELS

there are screws in the top right cornner right behind the miror
there is one behind the door handel on the inside.
and then you can grab the bottom cornner and GENTLY pry out on it to ge tthe clips to let loose then you cna pull it off.

you will have to either support it or take the wires off of the switches in the door pannels.

I am planning on doing this as well, but was wondering about the 2 red plastic pieces on each door, are these supposed to have lights behind them? I figure if I am taking off the door panel I might as well add bulbs to them if they are supposed to light up. I have read the speakers are 6 3/4 is this correct? I also read that you should get 2 Ohm speakers. Anybody know?

Those red pieces are just reflectors, they pop off with the panel.

1) Remove phillips screw behind door handle
2) Remove handle bezel, pull out on front then slide forward and remove door lock switch from bezel
3)Remove phillips screw on panel behind mirror.
4)Remove 2 torx screws below the grab on armrest.
5)Pry door panel out and look and locate the clips and pull on panel near clips. I used a plastic putty knife and started near mirror and worked down and around towards rear. The top of the door panel hangs on some clips and must be pulled up.
6)Remove wire harness from window switch.
7) 2 tabs can be pushed with your fingers and roll switch outward.
8) Put in new switch making sure it is in secure and reverse procedure.

I realized this is door panel thread but a mod can move it elsewhere.
This was done on a 2001 SS.Sorry no pics as I was working solo.
